I’m Rebecca and I started my career at Building Blocks Family Centre as a student leading to a casual role. I left to continue my studies at Swansea University. Following my studies I worked as a supply teaching assistant, working with a variety of schools with an age range from three to sixteen. I supported children with specific needs in a one to one role.

I applied for the post to develop my knowledge of speech and language development from experienced staff members. I wanted to share ideas and experience working with children with specific needs as part of a team.

My new role is supporting children and seeing them progress towards targets is very rewarding.

I have settled in very well which has been made easier by the friendly and helpful staff. I have received lots of support from my project manager Shannon which has helped me settle into my role with ease.

I enjoy working for Building Blocks Family Centre I have support when I need it. Having opportunities to attend courses such as an introduction to sign language has been very enjoyable. Regular meetings help us to keep up to date with all projects. There are lots of fundraising activities to be involved in.
