The funding will cover the salary of our qualified counsellor at 16 hours per week, enabling us to offer 300 hours of counselling sessions specifically tailored to children and young people with disabilities.

Children and young people with disabilities face a number of challenges that can have a huge impact on their mental health and wellbeing, so with the help of this funding it will allow 30 children and young people with disabilities to have increased emotional resilience and improved self-esteem.

Quote from Laura Lee, counsellor, about Moondance Foundation funding:
“This is such great news… Knowing that the Moondance Foundation is providing funding to extend our project for another year means that we can offer some certainty to the families we’re currently working with, that we’ll be able to continue supporting them; and means that we can offer counselling and other emotional support to many more children and young people who are facing difficulties.
So many of the children who come to me say how valuable they find it just to be able to talk it through with someone outside of their own life, to get everything off their chests or explore how they are feeling. Other young people find it supportive as they try new things or as a place to try to resolve problems from the past that are still affecting them.
I’m really proud to be part of this project because I know we’re changing lives, and I’m delighted that we can carry on doing that.”

One of our Main Aims as an organisation is to improve the quality of life of children and young people and their families affected by disability, so we are truly grateful that The Moondance Foundation is helping us to achieve this.
